The Sunshine Court by Nora Sakavic

fast-paced
  • Plot- or character-driven? Character

3.0

Jean is a very passive character (understandably so - it was a survival mechanism in the Nest). But it does make him less interesting to read about than Neil the instigator.
Even though he's only in here for a few pages, Neil still manages to be the best part of The Sunshine Court.

The first fourth of this book is a recap of the original trilogy through Jean's POV. And it is simply too much. I came here for new content! I do love that we get to see Jean and Renee's friendship though. It was a part of the original trilogy that I felt came out of nowhere, so it's nice to finally get some insight on it.

The original trilogy is a character-focused story, and this sequel trilogy is too. We are focused on Jean healing and growing as a person. However, there's really no plot beyond that in this book.

There are hints dropped about Jeremy's life that definitely piqued my interest. I'm looking forward to learning about his secrets in future installments.
