I received a physical ARC thanks to HCC Frenzy.
I usually reserve 1-star ratings for books that are problematic but I really, really, really did not enjoy this at all.
I appreciate that there was a list of content warnings at the beginning because there were a lot of triggering subjects.
I think the author was trying to do too many things. I was confused the entire time and the ending did not have any payoff for me.
There wasn’t a big enough font difference for the past and present POVs, which confused me. One of the POVs also didn’t use quotations, which was a weird move. It’s totally possible that neither of things will be that way in the final copy, but it took me out of the story so I thought it was worth mentioning.
My final thoughts: ????????????????????? What the heck did I just read????
