She loved someone else. He's the one she'd want dead.
I'm afraid this is the best series and enemies-to-lovers I will ever read. Every book, every romance after this is probably ruined for me.
I keep forgetting this is not a fantasy romance. Not a critique, it's so good.
I've heard some people this one is not as good as the rest of the series, I don't see it, it's just as good. I cannot compare it to the rest cause every single one exceeded my expectations.
It's not action-packed but there was always something going on.
The only issue I have with this book is that it was only 300 pages. <spoilers> How I would've loved the final scene (pre epilogue) to be a bit longer, I wanna see Jude and Cardan hug and lie together, but okay
Honestly, this review is shit but most of my opinions of The wicked king bleed into this book. Except for my opinion on Locke and Taryn, both characters became 10 times better in this book, particularly Locke, I never thought we would get to see him in the place he was for most of the book and I could not be happier, and the fact that it was Taryn who made him evolve into this new role... chef's kiss.
Also, I like Nicassia, I don't see that mentioned but I will always love exes having decent relationships. Cardan and Nicassia gave humanity to the other just by being the other's former "lover" (ew) and I love it.
Sorry for the chaos that this review has been but I just love it.
