You kind of have to push through the long-winded chapters and not-so-great writing in this one. I did enjoy the story and was fascinated by how their friendship endured through everything they went through in their individual lives.
Some have criticized her for her later actions which I thought was unfair. She's only human and she completely owns up to the fact that she should've done better by Maurice. That shows a lot of character. I also read a Goodreads comment by the author that Maurice may not be listed as an author but receives equal profits from this book.
I will say that at first, I thought this was a bit saviorish and that she was trying to make money from this story. But really, it was a story that needed to be told and it might inspire others to do good deeds.
