The Godwulf Manuscript
by Robert B. Parker
Back in the 1980s there was a TV series titled "Spenser: For Hire". It was a popular TV series and it was based on a popular book series.
This book felt like a pretty standard noir detective story. Spenser is hired to track down a stolen book, during the course of looking for it, he encounters drug dealers, cultists, and everything else you'd expect to find on the seedy underbelly of society.
This book was a handful of fun and it's easy to see why it was decided to put it on television.
