Year of the Tiger: An Activist's Life by Alice Wong

4.0

I expected a traditional memoir but this was a collection of essays, interviews, and personal anecdotes from Alice Wong's childhood in Indiana to her current advocacy work in San Francisco. I heard Alice on a podcast back in high school and I've been kind of obsessed ever since. This did not disappoint. Alice Wong is not only an excellent writer and producer of correct pop culture opinions (Alice, if you're reading this, I would love a full book on your opinions on the X-Men, pretty please), but a prominent voice in disability studies and lifelong disability rights activist. I can't wait to read more by her.
