'The Angel Maker' by Alex North

I was first introduced to this author through "The Whisper Man," which I could NOT put down. Incredible plot- everything I would want in a True Crime/ Suspense thriller. Loved it. Then I read "The Shadows," which I enjoyed even more! The various storylines, multiple perspectives from the main characters, the hint of paranormal/ supernatural possibility twist... I was HOOKED. So needless to say, I HAD to immediately order "The Angel Maker" after finishing "The Shadows."

This one was alright, in comparison to the previous two. I think the plot got a bit lost in translation with too many storylines and too many added characters. As the storylines were developing, characters' names were also changing, adding another element to the confusion. It easily became way too much to follow along and at one point, I needed to keep a running sheet of characters in my Notes app because I SO wanted to LOVE this new one!

Overall, the ideas were on point, I just think the delivery missed the mark for me. You can tell he had all these thoughts kind of jumbled around in his mind while working on the organization and structure of this book- but overall could not tell the story in a way that was clear and concise to the reader, making it more of a struggle to just read and enjoy.
I think North had just a few too many ideas thrown into one book- where he could have benefitted from a "less is more" when it came to the actual plot. I am left with not much of a take-away, as looking back I am still trying to unscramble the various storylines.
