Wow! I obviously didn’t want to put this book down.

Ali Hazelwood does it again by bringing in a smart woman in STEM. However, the only thing Elsie doesn’t have is the confidence. She’s a huge people pleaser, never thinks about herself, and creates many different facades. But the character development, the way she changes and realizes that she SHOULD put her own needs before others, is so amazing. Her transition was something I needed to see and absolutely loved. And her struggle to be able to tell the truth is really reflected in her backstory!

With Jack helping her realize this is what she needs to do, the chemistry is unreal. She felt so comfortable around him that it was easier for her to be her true self quicker than others. And the fact that he wasn’t rushing into anything, he knew that SHE needed to make that decision for them, BEAUTIFUL. And finally, a guy is who is actually charismatic, to not only Elsie, but to everyone else.

Ali gives us an opportunity to introduce the aco/ace spectrum into this book and I loved it so much. And it gives so many others something to know about a type of sexuality. It was a breath of fresh air and I was here for it.

This book is another enemies to lovers trope but it actually makes sense. The type of physics going up against each other was such a great take on it! Elsie being theoretical and Jack being experimental. Also, great addition that Jack’s article was loosely based on another real life article hoax that happened in 1996! That is pretty interesting!

The one thing that only bothered me was the smut, there wasn’t a lot (which is fine, you don’t need a lot) but it was all condensed into back-to-back chapters. And I felt like there was a missed opportunity to show the needs of someone that is more realistic.

Ali, you’ve done it again! ❤️‍🔥
