-------------------

I'm back with another Melissa Foster read, and we're all back with the Bradens with ' Then Came Love ', book nine in her ' The Bradens & Montgomerys: Pleasant Hill - Oak Falls series. I joined this series with Sweet, Sexy Heart , but I'm far from a stranger when it comes to Melissa Foster reads. Having read SSH, I knew I had to sign up to read the next book because once you've been hooked by a Braden brother, there's no going back.

'What happens when you find your soul mate but she belongs to someone else?'

From reading SSH, I knew Jax Braden was going to be one to watch, and I was right. Having barely read through the first few opening chapters of the book, I was already 'Jax'd, as I'm calling it. Firmly under his spell, I knew I was going to be a pile of mush and feels by the time I had read the last page. Jordan might have taken some time to win over--with obstacles thrown in her way of being with Jax--, but there was no question about myself as a reader. Jax--a Braden brother--is good with the real ladies as he is with the fictional.

'Months ago, famed wedding-gown designer Jax Braden met the woman of his dreams when a bride-to-be came in for a consultation. He’s tried to move on, but there is no forgetting beautiful, smart, and refreshingly real Jordan Lawler, or the loneliness she cleverly tries to hide.'

Jax, of course, is not only our only star player in this novel. Cue Jordan Lawler. She's as unforgettable to him as he is to her, and their attraction to one another only heightens the sexual tension, fuels the angst and makes the forbidden fruit all the more forbidden as the temptation is more than there to take a bite, rather than consume it all. Melissa's capability to write sizzling, steam-off-the-pages chemistry between her characters is evident in all of the books I've had the pleasure of reading, but by far Jax and Jordan are up there with my favourite book character couples of all time. The journey that these two took and how everything around them tests and tries them both as individuals and as a couple...wow.

I consumed this book in only one day, which shows how much the above was done with such finesse that I simply couldn't put it down or drag it out. I was all-in.

'When Jordan hires him to design her wedding gown, Jax knows he’s in trouble, but he cannot walk away. As business meetings turn to late-night confessions, their connection deepens, igniting passion too strong to deny.

If this is your first time reading either a Melissa Foster novel, or your first time reading any Braden book, you're in for treats upon treats, upon treats, upon treats. You're not just getting Jax and Jordan with this book, you're getting the whole family and that was a major selling point for me. So many book isolate and focus only on their main characters--often keeping them in one or few settings for the whole novel--, featuring the odd side/secondary character here and there, but with this read and SSH before it, you're getting the whole family. By doing this, Melissa introduces all of the family again for those who may be jumping into the series for the first time (without reading in series order), or for those like myself who are getting a refresher into who everyone is, who they're with and what they do.

Melissa uses the power of the Braden bunch to hit home many lessons and messages that the characters are trying to get through to the main characters of the novel (this time its Jax and Jordan who are in the spotlight), from their own personal experiences from their own novels. With this we're not only getting a recap of past stories/journeys of other Bradens, we're building up the bigger picture that no matter what, family never walks alone.

'They’re drawn into an inescapable and forbidden love. Loyalties are tested and hearts are frayed, but neither will cross that invisible line in the sand. Come along for the sexy, emotional ride as Jax and Jordan face their toughest competitors yet—their hearts.'

This story full of forbidden love, family-strong loyalty, broken hearts and the duty to do what's right no matter what the cost will have you falling in love with not only Jax and Jordan, but the whole of the Braden family. There wasn't a moment I didn't enjoy reading this book, not even when I was welling up with tears. Every page truly had me with the story the entire way till the end, and I cannot wait for book ten and another Braden boy!

Five stars for Jax, Jordan & Melissa!
