The concept of this novel seemed very positive, but the execution was uneven in terms of pacing and character development. The conflict seemed manufactured, and the chemistry between the leads was more exposition than action. I'm not sure that the author had a solid handle on everything she wanted to do with this story, and the result is a feeling of precarity as a reading experience.
