SCREAMING at the ending! I mean, I do think it was the right choice but also agh!!

Anyway this book was so so good. I had just finished another romance and thought it was really great but this one just blew it out of the park. The characters are so compelling. Mickey's development throughout the story was not a completely smooth journey and it was pretty believeable. As this is a YA, you do assume some sense of resolution at the end, and we got it, but it didn't feel like everything would always be perfect, which I really appreciated.

The main characters are supported by a really strong group of friends and family, who just fill the pages with warmth and joy. There were a lot of them but I never felt like I needed to go back and work out who someone was or what their deal was - anyone who needed in-depth explanation got it.

One note to end with is that I do not know a single thing about ice hockey. Like I worked out a vague sense of what the 'draft' is through the narrative of this book kind of level of knowledge. And this book definitely assumes a level of knowledge. It uses a lot of terminology relevant to ice hockey and it lost me sometimes. Like I know for the story it didn't really matter if I knew every fancy word, but it was also a tiny bit frustrating at times.

But overall, this was really good. I read it on my phone from the library but I would want to go out and get myself a physical copy.
