I started crying at 33%. I loved this, much, much more than the first one. In this book we get more about the characters, their difficult pasts and different perspectives. It depthens emotionally and some parts made me incredibly sad.

This book does a brilliant job of painting the picture of who Yael is. As the book advances, you just feel the burden she carries, her sadness and loneliness. But above all, it shows that she can still smile and love after the horrors and losses.

What I did not like was how the author dealt with the ending. Not plot-wise, but what happened to the characters.  I don't agree with Henryka's death, and much less with Luka's. Yael had already lost so, so much and I expected that the author would grant her the chance to find peace with this newfound family. In my heart, they're alive and they get together for dinners.

Just fantastic.
