Things We Left Behind by Lucy Score

4.0

This was the third and by far the funniest installment in the Knockemout series. This one follows Lucian, a powerful and wealthy CEO with a difficult past and Sloane, a fiesty librarian on a mission to build the life she’s always wanted.

Lucian and Sloane had grown up as neighbors and had once been very close; bonded from traumatic moments during their youth before Lucian left Knockemout. When a tragic event brings Lucian back to town and back into Sloane’s life, they find themselves battling both the past they never resolved and the feelings and attraction they try to ignore. However, when some enemies emerge from the shadows and threaten those they care about, including each other, they have no choice but to come to terms with what’s been simmering between them all this time in order to face their demons once and for all.

This book contains a blend of romance, some humor, a small town mystery, a decent amount of smut, and a pinch of heartbreak but you know Lucy Score never leaves you without a happy ending so it’s worth the journey! I subtracted a star for the occasional cringe/corny moments and dialogue and the shift in pace at the end that threw me a bit, but I enjoyed the book and recommend it for spicy romance lovers!
