Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton
Did not finish book.
Please go into this book understanding that it is an abuse romance! I really tried to finish this book but couldn't, I got about 45% through and had to stop. I am for kink and reallt wanted a dark romance, loved the idea of a stalker romance. But this book was just criminal. Z (yes he goes by Z even though his name is Zade, and no we don't learn that until the 30% mark) literally r words her over and over and over again. The book clmains to be CNC but from my understanding of consensual non consent means both parties have to COMMUNICATE with each other about their wants, needs and limits for this to be considered a kink. What he does to Adeline is just criminal. Literally a criminal activity that should land him in jail for life. Unfortuantly so many people are going to go into this thinking that this is what a kink is and no, no this is not how it's done.
Besides the very clear and gross behavior of the main guy, the character development sucks, if you want to even say that is what's happening in the book. Besides Adeline's occasional witty remarks, nothing else about how the interact or even their inner monologues are redeemable. There is a murder mystery section of the novel that was actually interetsing but because I didn't want to sit through the book I just googled what happened and unfortuantly I'm not surprised by the reveal. The writing spoon feeds everything to you the most mudane things to the point I almost felt offended. Like ma'am, I have a higher than 3rd greade reading comprehesiion, I don't need everything forced fed to me. I have a brain.
This book was just not good. If you enjoyed it, I'm happy for you, but please understand that the writing in this is objectively bad and this is not proper CNC kink representation.
