Hope in the Dark: Untold Histories, Wild Possibilities by Rebecca Solnit
3.0
2.5 stars rounded up - my biggest complaint is that it felt more like I was being told what she was going to tell me instead of just telling it. I kept waiting for the hope but it never really came. There was a few stories intermixed with her thoughts and opinions but not as much as I was expecting since she repeatedly said she would provide us with stories of hope.
For me, this read like a memoir marketed as something else, as she talks about herself and her ideas just as much if not more than the examples of hope she repeatedly says she’ll share.
There’s a lot of quotable lines about hope that I highlighted, which is the reason for 3 stars instead of 2. But for me, it missed the mark and was just okay, I wouldn’t recommend it.
