The Good Son
by You-Jeong Jeong
I usually don't read synopses of thrillers and mysteries because they tend to spoil the plots but I could have benefitted from reading this one before going in. Like other mysteries from Southeast Asia, this one may be too much of a slow burn for most thriller addicts but I don't count myself among that group.
At first, I found myself siding with Yu-jin and intensely disliking his mother, but as the story unraveled and I saw things from her perspective, I changed my mind. The language and some of the situations were a lot more intense than I was expecting, so be forewarned.
This book probably has everything you want if you're looking for a book about a psychopath, although enthusiasts may want more blood and gore, which I was happy to do without.
