Octavia Butler nails it again with Adulthood Rites, the second installment in her Xenogenesis series (Lilith’s Brood). Exploring themes of xenophobia, racism, gender, and sexuality through the hearts and minds of humans and extraterrestrials, Butler manages to integrate very real issues into a wildly entertaining story.
