About That Kiss: A Heartbreaker Bay Novel by Jill Shalvis

5.0

About that Kiss is the fifth book in the Heartbreaker Bay series. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the entire series because it's fantastic. I've quickly become attached to these heroes and the women they love. They are all strong, funny and such a tight knit group of people. They are a family. I love how Jill always makes me laugh, cry, swoon and feel like I'm a part of the family. It's one of the things that keep me coming back for more! About that Kiss is Joe's story. Oh man. We've known Joe for a while and he's the quiet, sexy type. I knew his story was going to be deeper than imagined. He didn't have an easy childhood, but he has his sister, Molly, and his dad. They are really close. But he's closed off to women and relationship. His need to protect outweighs his need for love. But when Kylie needs him and they strike a deal, he can't seem to say away from her. She's everything he needs. She makes him actually laugh out loud and picture what a life with her could look like. But he's afraid. Kylie is a talented woodworker. She's independent, pretty and hilarious. Joe doesn't stand a chance. When the situation gets dangerous, will Joe do the right thing or lose Kylie? Will he figure out that falling in love is the answer to his life before it's too late? It all started with a kiss, how will it end? I loved this story. Joe and Kylie are the perfect pair. She makes him laugh, he makes her feel safe. I loved watching the two of them figure it all out! And I loved catching up with all the characters I've grown to love.

"Wow."
"Yeah. So to be clear, that wasn't 'a normal kiss' or even 'a nice kiss.' It was a 'wow' kiss."

"Is your mind always in the gutter?"
"Yes. You might want to remember that."

"Didn't see you coming, Kylie."

"Give me an example where in the first two second what's on the inside is more important than the outside."
"Refrigerator," Sadie said.
"Okay, I stand corrected." Elle laughed.
