Wow. I think I saw someone else describe it as 'a love letter to the strength of women' which is so on point. The characters were so vivid, and I really enjoyed the descriptions of their neighbourhood and Memphis (though I've never been there so take that with a grain of salt).
My only sticking point, if you get confused reading stories that jump between characters and time periods, read the physical book. I wish I had had it so I could reference the table of contents to line up events in my mind, and the family tree at the beginning when I was still learning who was who.
Thanks to Dial Press/Random House and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
