The Idiot Brain by Dean Burnett
4.0

Neuroscientist Dean Burnett gives us some fun facts on how our brain works.

Whilst informative and with plenty of, "I never knew that!" moments, Mr Burnett (I'm not sure if his title should be Mr or Dr but as his GR Author's page mentions nothing of a doctorate I will refer to him as Mr. My sincerest apologies if it turns out that he is a doctor) also delves into more serious issues relating to the brain, including the reason for panic attacks and other mental health disorders such as psychosis and paranoia.

I believe, with most mental health issues, knowing why we do things can help us to prevent them (or continue doing them) in the future and found certain parts of this book incredibly helpful to me, on a personal level.

I listened to this on Audible and found the narrator, Matt Addis, very funny and think that he enriched the book with his intonations and quips. The Welsh accent always seems to have a helpful, friendly and homely feel to it and this might have helped in my high review rating. Unless, of course, my idiot brain has been brainwashed into thinking that. In which case, Mr Burnett, well done.
