I would actually give it 3.5 stars. The movie based on this book was one of my absolute favorites from childhood. I dreamed of riding Falkor and meeting the Rock-Eater. Back then I never read, in fact I hated reading, so I never even gave the novel a thought...until now (some 20 or so years later). I was surprised how true the movie was to the novel...there weren't many inaccuracies. About the book though...it was good. I loved inhabitants of Fantastica...so much imagination went into this story. I did not expect the ending (which was not the ending of the movie...the movie actually ended about half-way through the book)...it was equal parts horribly sad and wonderfully happy.
