Athena's Raid
by Isabel Wroth
3.5-3.75 stars. This was another good book from this series! The premise was original and interesting. This is Athena and Raid's story. Raid is in a military hospital recovering from injuries he sustained in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan and wondering if his paralysis is permanent . He receives a letter through a program that gives military members letters from civilians to cheer them up and thank them for their service. His letter arrives on a day when he is feeling his lowest and most alone, wondering if he wants to go on living. The letter gives him hope and helps him want to recover. The letter is from Athena. She is an earth mother type, who owns her own store and makes aromatherapy candles and other treatments. Athena and Raid begin corresponding and feel a connection to each other through their letters. She sends him candles and treats. Athena helps Raid have hope for his future and begin making plans for when he leaves the hospital, including reconnecting with the MC club and brothers he left behind when he enlisted in the military. They're half in love with each other before they ever meet. But one day, the letters stop coming and for six months they were both left wondering what happened to the other. Until the day Raid shows up at Athena's store to stake his claim on her. Athena decides to take a chance on love and move with Raid to Austin, where he is from and where his MC is. They make a life there together, while dealing with some drama with Athena's abusive ex and some ongoing club drama.
I really liked both Raid and Athena. Raid was all in with Athena from the beginning. He was strong and alpha, but not bossy and he definitely had a sweet side. He took great care of Athena. Athena was strong and not your typical MC old lady type, with her earthy, hippy style. They were a great couple and really suited each other. There was not a lot of relationship angst. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop. It was also nice to catch up with the other MC members, Roar and Everly. I liked this book even more than the first one and I am looking forward to more from this series.
