What Feasts at Night by T. Kingfisher
4.25
Read for the 2024 Buzzwordathon September Prompt: Senses
It isn't entirely accurate to call this novella chilling, although I did get very cold while reading it because Melbourne Springs are sunny and hot one day and raining and cold the next. It is accurate to say that this book creeped me out, making the move from the living room to my bed and turning off lights was gently tense and I stopped listening to my atmospheric creepy music once I was warm and cosy under my blankets.
I like how straightforward horror novellas often are, it's creepy and atmospheric and doesn't need to maintain the energy for hundreds of pages and is just a short sojourn into spook-ville. I am clearly rambling, I don't have a lot of thoughts other than this was a great read, as a T Kingfisher books are, and I am extra-glad I happened upon this edition signed in the city Dymocks!
