I do not know why I grabbed this book off the shelf when I have so many others to read, but I did regardless. And I am glad I did. Every pocket of the globe holds history, and I was very uneducated on modern Sudanese history. Valentino Achak Deng is a beacon of hope, and a gentle and caring picture of humanity. Eggers helps realize his story, and despite all it presents, the storytellers forever stress the blessing that is life. 10/10.
