taylor jenkins reid you son of a bitch you got me again!!! her books are always such enjoyable reads - emotional and dramatic in a gratifying way because it's a relief to know you can feel what the characters are feeling?? my coworkers were very curious about my facial expression at The narrative twist (though honestly post-evelyn i should have seen that coming, which is maybe my biggest complaint), and about me slamming my fist into the book at that final email because god damn ! the power of love ! this author makes me believe in it!! i described her writing as lightly "beach read-y" which feels a bit harsh but it simply scratches the itch that you need it to and she will deliver what you're expecting. also random but love getting to match up the song lyrics at the end to their irl fleetwood counterparts you Really Could be my silver spring.

good quotes (though i can def see ppl complain they may come off as too many platitudes which like yeah that's gonna happen when multiple books are positioned as retrospective tell-alls of larger-than-life celebrities):
--i think you have to have faith in people before they earn it. otherwise it's not faith, right?
--when someone's presence gives you energy, when it riles up something in you... you can turn that energy into lust or love or hate. i felt most comfortable hating her. it was my only choice.
--people say that life keeps moving, but they don't mention that it does stop sometimes, just for you. just for you and your girl.
--i don't believe in soul mates anymore and i'm not looking for anything. but if i did believe in them, i'd believe your soul mate was somebody who had all the things you didn't, that needed all the things you had. not somebody who's suffering from the same stuff you are.
--love is forgiveness and patience and faith and every once in a while, it's a gut punch. that's why it's a dangerous thing, when you go loving the wrong person.
--i thought love was bombs and tears and blood. i did not know that it was supposed to make you lighter, not heavier. i didn't know it was supposed to take only the kind of work that makes you softer.
--some people will never stop being themselves. and you think it drives you crazy but it is the very thing you will think about when they are gone. when you don't have them in your life anymore.
--no matter who you choose to go down the road with, you're gonna get hurt. that's just the nature of caring about someone. no matter who you love, they will break your heart along the way.
--life is about who is holding your hand and, i think, whose hand you commit to holding.
