Breaking Without You by Carrie Ann Ryan

5.0

This book drags us kicking and screaming through all of the “feels”.

In Breaking Without You we follow Violet’s journey through grief, trust issues, and self doubt. Her best friend just died, but she’d already had a rough couple of years. AND the guy who shattered her heart years ago is back in town. The first of this tale is so sad, but manages to keep from being depressing. Carrie’s storytelling takes us through all of Violet and Cameron’s thoughts as well as the physical aspects so I felt like I was in their shoes. Luckily these characters have deep seated family ties (if not blood family, the family you choose) that strengthen their resolve to best their circumstances. In the end I love that Hope wins out, that and sometimes we absolutely cannot stand on our own. Sometimes we have to have help to be our best selves. This thought provoking tale is well worth the read, but you might want to have some tissues handy.
