Definitely very literary and I did struggle a bit in the early chapters as a result of the limited dialogue. But it didn't distract from my reading experience too much, and this was incredibly written. It is a beautiful book that I think is an important read. It's also, relatively, a pretty quick read, at only 196 pages. Only rated it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the some struggles that I did have.
Graphic: Racism, Death of parent, Pregnancy, Abandonment
Moderate: Hate crime, Sexual content, Violence, Religious bigotry
Minor: Cancer, Child death, Drug use, Fire/Fire injury
