Beautiful language and pictures. The illustrations support the theme brilliantly by showing the growing number of community members participating in everyday and kid-achievable acts of care. Furthermore, giving the cast different instruments provided an excellent metaphor for how everyone brings different strengths and skills to the community.

This was part of a lesson about using different sources to learn about MLK Day. I do not believe this book was the right fit for that lesson and would be interested to try it near the end of a poetry unit or an illustration study. In this case, the students mostly commented on how big the guitar was compared to the character.
