Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky
4.0
I cannot believe that I actually enjoyed all of the endless - and I mean endless - dialogue about this or that ... Wikipedia mentioned that the book is considered to be one of Dostoevsky's more personal: Myshkin's epilepsy, the talk of Christ and Christian love, capital punishment. Of course, the plot is almost beside the point as it meanders here and there ...
When reading a Dostoevsky novel, I feel as if I am caught up in a fevered conversation about everything - how people feel about themselves and each other, about class and religion, about morality and goodness, about the church and about the state. As the characters are well-drawn, the fevered conversations have depth and complexity.
