Where We Go from Here by Lucas Rocha

5.0

This is a very important novel. I knew only a couple basic facts about HIV but not the whole process HIV positive people had to go through (at least in Brazil). This was eye opening and done super positively and reassuringly because it is overwhelming. I also didn’t know the psychological toll the fear of getting or having HIV was so it was helpful having three men at different points regarding HIV: from testing negative to testing positive and starting treatment to being advanced in treatments and understandings; as well as how it affects (future) relationships. And I love that each one had someone they could reply on that wasn’t each other. In my opinion, though it’s not saying much since I don’t have HIV and don’t know anyone who does, this was a very positive presentation of HIV.

The narrators did a good job for the most part. I did get a bit confused with a couple of the narrators at times on which character was talking because they didn’t really change tones or cadences. I was listening at 1.5-1.8x the speed.
