This story, this relationship, is absolute controlled chaos. It is filled with the push-pull of dominance/brat/submission. And it is delicious! A good portion of this book looks at Izzy and her struggle with sobriety. Izzy has been sober for 9 years but is still afraid of her past, of giving up any control for fear that it might lead her backwards in her sobriety. Shain Rose hits this huge mental health issue out of the park in her description of Izzy’s struggle. I absolutely love how multi-dimensional her characters are. There are depths to their depths. That sometimes the biggest adversary is the mind. Cade has to be hottest of hot men I’ve ever read. I told my husband that he now has competition from a fictional man! Cade is a controlling, dominant, alpha protector who loves to see Izzy release her control. He wants her to be able to see her own strength and allow herself to be herself. Their story is tumultuous, beautiful, and I absolutely loved it!
