Peter S Beagle is a beautiful writer and his writing introduced me as a young girl to the genre of fantasy.  But The Innkeeper’s Song was a different kind of experience.

The shifting POVs were a highlight for me, and I felt they offered such a layered view of the world and story. The story moved forward in this very pretty, kind of quiet, but winding way. The majority of this book felt like a story you’d tell around a campfire, though there were definitely some… not so campfire vibe parts.

Overall, I’m glad I read this, but I’d recommend it mostly for longtime Beagle fans who enjoy his thoughtful storytelling, OR fantasy readers looking for something different than normal.

Thank you to NetGalley and Saga Press for the opportunity to read this!
