Read Between the Lines by Rachel Lacey

4.0

This was my first Rachel Lacey book and my initial thoughts are…I want to read more by this author.

This sapphic romance is very well written and it flowed very nicely. It has a “Enemies to Lovers” trope, who’s is a favorite of mine. I feel like it makes it that much more Spivey, and along with booknerds in a bookstore, mistaken identity and a cute dog, how could you go wrong?

Set in Manhattan, we have bookstore owner, Rosie Taft, who took over her mothers bookstore, which has been in business for 30+ years. Safe to say, books are Rosie’s life.

A favorite author of her is romance author, Brie, who she has sparked a online friendship on Twitter, but could it be more?

After her building was bought by a big property developer, Rosie get a letter from Jane Breslin, informing her that her lease will not get renewed at the end of the year, with the building eventually getting torn down.

While reading, I found myself really loving these characters. The store is told in multiple POV, which I love and the storyline has me completely hooked.

It had sweet parts along with parts that had my heart hurting for the characters.

Rosie and Jane faves a lot of hurdles in their relationship, but I was rooting for their happy ending. They had chemistry right off the bat, but personal and professional identities, both public and hidden, made it difficult to overcome those hurdles.

The only thing I can say is that the spicy scenes lacked spice for me. They were well, written, but with all the angst and obstacles they faced, I just expected more.

Overall, i enjoyed the hell out of this book. It is Book 1 of the Ms. Right series by Rachel Lacey and I will definitely be picking up the next one because I feel like Rosie’s roommate has a potential story brewing. I would recommend this feel good romance if you want to smile and if you like dogs, cuz honestly , who could forget about Brinkley?!
