Finally a Danielle Steel book that I truly enjoyed. It’s been such a long time since I read a good Danielle Steel book. Don’t me wrong, a lot of her books are good but they do start to get pretty repetitive after a while.
This one though. This one was different.
It had my absolute most favorite trope which is the found family trope. This book is actually a beautiful story of two lost souls coming together in a time of desperate need and healing not only each other but themselves as well.
Ginny and Blue were amazing. Normally I would get so annoyed with characters that do the whole tragedy happened on my watch so now I have to punish myself. I hate that and it really just drives me nuts. But with Ginny it was different. She was just so locked up in her grief, that she didn’t know any other way to think and that broke my heart. There is one scene in particular that absolutely destroyed me. But it is rather hard to read so be careful.
I think what this book shows best, I think, is that family doesn’t always mean blood. Sure, you have your blood family but sometimes the best family is the family you make with someone or a group of people. And I think that’s just a beautiful lesson that everyone should learn.
Overall, I loved this book a lot. Once I picked it up, I didn’t want to put it down, it was that good. I truly recommend this book to anyone as I think anyone will enjoy this wonderful little book about found family.
