Knot the One They Want by Harper Lennox
2.5

I enjoy bully and rejected mate tropes but this one didn't hit the mark. A 2.5 read for me and I skimmed the ending.

The premise of the entire pack rejecting Evie is flimsy, to start, and the bullying is mostly just neglect. Worse than that, there's just no chemistry between the guys and Evie because they have almost no meaningful interactions for 80% of the book. No getting to know each other at all. They see the facade she wears and admire her strength but that's very surface level. By her own internal admission, most of what she does is just her trying to be perfect "even if it destroys the real me." So neither the pack nor the reader gets to learn who Evie really is.

Then she almost dies and they just decide to accept her. During heat, they declare to love her. This love feels 2 dimensional at best without the development or interaction to back it up. Any groveling is also completely glossed over with a sentence about how they took her out on dates. How can she not hate them when she doesn't know them? How can they love her when all they know is a mask? And how can I as a reader be invested in a relationship with zero relations?

Admittedly I skimmed the heat scene because it felt gratuitous with all these issues but I didn't catch any wording that actually indicated she orgasmed either? Again, maybe that's because I wasn't tuned in by that point but what's the point of a heat if the orgasms aren't obvious lol

All told, though there are some bright spots, no I don't recommend
