Huge fan of Armstrong's work and despite owning 3x 1st books in her newer series, I've yet to read anything not Otherworld. Hemlock Island being my first foray into a series not tied to that universe and boy am I glad I did! I will be reading Cainsville or Rockton next for certain. Seeing this was her first full length horror was super surprising and I really hope we get more.

Hemlock Island is just that right mix of thriller + supernatural. It keeps you guessing and doubting just like Laney about what's happening. Laney being a writer and her knowledge of the genre was brilliant & all the supporting characters were fleshed out with their own strengths + weaknesses.
