The gothic thriller of my dreams! I love a decaying 1920s mansion for a setting. And an old-timey murder mystery that inspired a nursery rhyme for kids to creepily sing on playgrounds? Sign me up. Riley Sager truly never disappoints me. He’s the king of twists and this was full of them. I felt like I had so many pieces, but couldn’t figure out how to put them together until each of his reveals when they’d all fall into place. Everything he writes is just so vivid and suspenseful. I’m dying to see any one of his books adapted for a movie or tv show, this one especially. (Someone get Mike Flanagan on it, I’m begging.)My only disappointment is having to wait for his next book to see what he comes up with next!
