I can’t love this book enough!
Five strong, queer, women finding their way and making their own rules during the Uraguay Dictatorship and Revolution.
•
A rare book where all the main characters are women. The story is about women and the relationships between women. A celebration of these five women, their difficulties, their lives, their joys, and the things that make life worth living (even through harrowing times).
•
Five women making a place for themselves. And then we get to see the relationships they have with each other and others change and mels and evolve over the 70’s snd 80’s and beyond. We see the high points and the oh so low points. We see them struggle with identity and belonging and family, their own family and their found family.
•
The whole book was just a celebration of these women finding there space and being who they are as queer women during a not so pretty time on their Country’s history.
•
And bonus..I went die the rabbit hole if Uruguayan history as well.
