The Tao of Pooh by Benjamin Hoff

5.0

"The Masters of life know the way, for they listen to the voice within them, the voice of wisdom and simplicity, the voice that reasons beyond cleverness and knows beyond knowledge. That voice is not just the power and property of a few, but has been given to everyone."

I actually read this book twice - the first time, I just read it through, the second time, I took notes on the parts that I found interesting and wanted to remember (which may not be very Taoist, but oh well). The thing is, though, I feel like I could read this many more times - both times I read it, different passages or lessons caught my eye.

This book has a light-hearted tone and manner, even while it's explaining the different ideals of Taoism - either using stories from Winnie the Pooh or through traditional Taoist stories. It explains and gives examples - but not too much. In the Taoist way, the book doesn't try hard too hard, it simply states and assumes (hopes?) the reader understands what is meant to be understood.
