Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
3.0

This has been on my TBR forever. I enjoyed it, and I think it was very well written, but it lacked structure. It tells the story of an orphaned girl named Anne, who is taken in by a family who lives in Avonlea, a fictional town in Canada. Their home is called Greene Gables, hence the title. The book follows her upbringing, and various conflicts arise with her strong personality. Her new family consists of Marilla and Matthew, who navigate the unexpected challenge of raising a young girl. Matthew was immediately one of my favorite characters. Seeing his love for Anne displayed in his special ways was a highlight. Girls who are told they are too much, bossy, or that they need to act their age will connect with this very well. I just wish there was a more major conflict to follow and get invested in.
