Initially it seemed like Turn-of-the-Screw-esque but what makes it worth trying is Borgesian looking themes like how two of the characters come to seem like different aspects (?) of same person as well as how reader's experience which is at first made identical with that of protagonist (narration is in the second person) until somewhere near the middle is at that point seggregated by a single turn of phrase leaving reader better informed even as he/she continues to seee things from point of view of protagonist.
