Identity Unknown by Patricia Cornwell

dark emotional mysterious sad fast-paced

A solid entry into the Scarpetta series. Kay wasn't the victim in this and she wasn't run roughshod by her husband, niece and Marino. The investigation made sense and they knew Carrie was likely involved in some way from the get-go. It's been interesting that weather has been making such a prominent character in these books as of late.

So I know what happened when the next book comes out:
The parents killed the little girl because they were terrible. It was clear they did it from the start. Carrie is working with the rich dad to some unknown ends and is the one who tortured and killed Sal, Kay's ex-lover. Sal was not a spy but working to create and patent a lunar telescope using space dust. Carrie was captured because again, Lucy set a computer trap for her but didn't bother to tell her aunt, who was the bait. Also, Kay killed her former security guy who has been messing with the morgue staff because he was fired. There appears to be no repercussions?
