Know My Name by Chanel Miller

1.0

It is a memoir about a girl who was sexual assaulted by the a guy and he was given only 6 months in jail as punishment for his crime. I will not talk about how she was drunk and unconscious because that does not matter. She was not in a position to give consent which means she did not give consent which means she said no.
It's about the court proceedings, its about the after effects of the traumatic event. There are snippets of her past life and comparing it or finding similarities with her present life.
I did not want to rate this book for as its a memoir. I don't want to be disrespectful. But I decided to rate it for the way it's written (actually edited) rather than the Chanel's experiences. The book started off well. But it got repetitive by the 40% of the way in. I almost dnf'ed the book multiple times. I didn't thoroughly read the last 50 pages or so and skimmed 50% of the book. I wish the editor would have done a better job of cutting down the long chapters. But I also understand that its Chanel's book! It's Chanel's (part of) life. And it's her words that she wishes they reach to the world.
