This is the epic fictional tale of Maggie, growing up in Australia in foster care and group homes. It follows her from childhood to adulthood, and boy, she is troubled. As an adult she gets to a secure place a few times, with a husband & job, but she doesn’t allow herself to be happy, doesn’t think she deserves it. So she is self-destructive and loses it all. She reinvents herself with a new name, country, accent and a new past... It’s not a happy story, but I feel it would be a very realistic one. The blurb hinted at a very different kind of story. This is a good piece of writing but not at all the thriller I was expecting. LOL
