Drowning by T.J. Newman

The amount of research this author did on planes, submarines, the navy, emergency responses, etc was very impressive! The attention to detail made the whole story feel pretty realistic (despite being a super unlikely scenario in real life). I found most of the characters pretty compelling but wish there was more development for characters other than
Will, Chris, and Shannon. The plot twist of Ruth having terminal cancer made her very emotional final moment a lot more logical. I do have to say, I did think the scene of them singing while being lifted in the Falcon was far too cheesy. The fake out at the end where Chris had accepted her fate and went with Annie (aka she “died”), but then actually didn’t and was there in the “one year later” chapter was a happy ending that I actually enjoyed.
Will definitely be reading the author’s other book “Falling”!
