First off, the magic and the general idea were great. I also liked the plot twists.
However, I overall disliked how dry and not very emotional / descriptive the writing style sometimes was. A also wasn’t a fan of the love-on-first-sight relationship between Ning and Kang. Because of those points I didn’t grow very attached to the characters.
The ending was good tho, so I might read the second book anyway.
