Hysteria by Megan Miranda
3.0

This is a book about a girl that kills her boyfriend in self defense; it should be interesting, but it was pretty boring. The pacing was atrocious—we basically read the same scene over and over again. There were hints of a paranormal element, but I felt like they were never fully committed to or explained by the end of the novel. So little happened when this could’ve been absolutely jam packed in the best way.

I’m a recent fan of Megan Miranda, and I’ve been going back through all of her old work. Since Hysteria is towards the beginning and there’s already clear growth in her writing journey, I’m not deterred. But if you’re like me, enjoying her latest work and looking back, this is an easy skip.
