Suddenly Psychic by Elizabeth Hunter

This was the first Elizabeth Hunter that I've read, although I've been hearing friends sing her praises for a while now.

I have to say that so far it's the best of the PWF genre that I've read. It's light on the romance side, at least this first book is, but I didn't mind at all.

I was expecting a book about a single MC and instead I find that there are three, and each book will focus on one more than the other two, but there are three MCs. A couple of the things that I loved about this book was how adeptly the author wove the age element into the narrative without harping on it, even the jokes about it were fairly subtle and typical of what you would expect to hear long time friends saying to each other. The primary MC in this book isn't divorced, as it seems is becoming a recurring trope in the genre, but is having relationship issues that some would consider pretty typical of a relationship of a couple of decades. More, the author brings them through the issues in believable ways without leaning too heavily on melodrama or making the resolutions too saccharine and easy to believe.

There's very little heat in this book, though. It's more UF than PNR, for sure.

It really is an excellent example of the PWF genre.
