I had a great time reading this first book in the spin off series of the Northwoods books! I hope this author keeps writing these books forever! And Wyatt! What a treasure.
There were a couple things that made me enjoy it just slightly less than the first series. One was that it felt like at least two characters had major characterization changes from how they were originally introduced in the series. Ava was way more caustic and reclusive than at first. Maverick was angry and aggressive instead of the annoying/teasing character he was first presented as. This wasn’t like something had happened to change them; it was as if we were supposed to think they were the same as always. It felt like a continuity error. The other issue I will put in the content warning.

Content Warnings
These books continue to be fade to black/clean romances which I love. There was a change in this book from previous ones in the original series, however. The mated couple didn’t wait until after their wedding.
