The Dovekeepers by Alice Hoffman

This book was a little slow to start; took a bit for me to feel invested in the characters. But once I was trapped, the book was fantastic. Knowing how long ago these characters lived, I can't believe the imagination and creativity that came from Alice Hoffman to bring this time and place to life. It was amazing and captivating, and worth the read.
